Taste the craft behind every loaf, every pastry, every visit.
Handcrafted breads, fresh-baked pastries, and a thoughtfully curated grocery selection — all from our kitchen to your table on 1st Street in Austin.
Our Story
A neighborhood bakery that became something more.
Mark's Cafe began as a small dream — a desire to bake bread the way it was meant to be baked: slowly, with intention, and with ingredients you can trust. What started as early-morning loaves for neighbors on 1st Street has grown into a gathering place where the scent of fresh sourdough meets a carefully selected grocery counter.
We source from Texas farms, mill our own flour blends, and let our starters do what they've always done — no shortcuts, no rush, just time and care. Whether you're picking up a weekend loaf or browsing our pantry staples, you'll find the same commitment in every item we offer.

What Our Guests Say
Kind words from our neighbors.
The sourdough here changed the way I think about bread. I drive past three other bakeries just to make sure I stop here first.
Walking into Mark's Cafe feels like stepping into a different pace. The pastries are unreal, and the grocery section has become my weekend ritual.
I love that everything tastes like it was made with actual care. You can tell they don't cut corners — from the bread to the olive oil to the honey.
